Your iPhone already tracks a surprising amount of health data. ShredSheet connects with Apple Health to bring all of that data together with your nutrition tracking – giving you a complete picture of your health.
What Data Can ShredSheet Sync?
ShredSheet integrates with Apple Health in both directions:
Reading from Apple Health
- Step count – see your daily steps alongside your calorie intake
- Workouts – imported workouts from any app (Apple Fitness, Strava, etc.)
- Sleep analysis – duration and quality from Apple Watch or sleep tracking apps
- Body measurements – weight from smart scales syncs automatically
Writing to Apple Health
- Nutrition data – your logged calories, protein, carbs, and fat appear in Apple Health
- Water intake – if you track hydration in ShredSheet
This means apps like Apple Fitness, your doctor’s health portal, or any other Apple Health-connected app can see your nutrition data without manual entry.
How to Set It Up
Step 1: Open ShredSheet Settings
Tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the home screen.
Step 2: Enable Apple Health
Find the “Apple Health” section and tap “Connect.” iOS will show you a permissions screen.
Step 3: Choose Your Permissions
You’ll see a list of data types. We recommend enabling all of them for the best experience, but you can be selective:
- Steps – enables the step counter widget on your dashboard
- Workouts – shows your exercise alongside nutrition data
- Sleep – displays sleep duration on your daily view
- Body Mass – syncs weight data both ways
- Nutrition – writes your food log data to Apple Health
Step 4: Done
ShredSheet will immediately start syncing. Historical data from today will appear within a few seconds.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Integration
Use a Smart Scale
If you have a Withings, Eufy, or any Apple Health-compatible smart scale, your weigh-ins will automatically appear in ShredSheet’s weight tracker. No manual entry needed.
Check Your Daily Summary
ShredSheet’s daily view combines your nutrition, steps, workouts, and sleep into one screen. This is where the Apple Health integration really shines – you can see correlations between sleep quality and food choices, or how active days affect your hunger.
Let ShredSheet Adjust Your Goals
When ShredSheet knows your activity level from Apple Health, it can suggest more accurate calorie targets. More active days might mean more food – and ShredSheet can help you make that call.
Privacy & Security
Your health data stays between ShredSheet and Apple Health. We never upload Apple Health data to our servers. The sync happens entirely on your device.
Apple Health itself uses hardware-level encryption, and ShredSheet respects all iOS privacy guidelines. You can revoke access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → ShredSheet.
Troubleshooting
Data not syncing?
- Check that permissions are enabled in iOS Settings → Privacy → Health → ShredSheet
- Make sure Background App Refresh is on for ShredSheet
- Force-close and reopen the app
Steps showing as zero?
- Your iPhone tracks steps by default, but Apple Watch data takes priority if you have one
- Check that “Steps” is enabled in the Apple Health permissions for ShredSheet
Weight not updating?
- ShredSheet reads the most recent weight entry from Apple Health
- If you use multiple scales or apps, make sure they’re all writing to Apple Health
